Customized Short-term Programs

Located in lush, green Mānoa Valley, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) is a safe, inviting destination conducive to learning both in the classroom and in a natural island environment. Our Customized Short-term Programs provide students with meaningful educational and intercultural experiences. We strive to create a truly memorable experience by integrating your curriculum interests with complementary activities.

Program Length

Varies between one to four weeks.

Past Themes

Hawaiian Culture, Language, and History; Globalization, Environmental Sustainability in Hawai‘i; Japanese Immigration in Hawai‘i; and Business Skills Development for Administrative Staff.

Activities

Unique-to-Hawai‘i excursions around Oahu, interaction with UHM students, English-language programs, Hawaiian activity workshops, lectures, service-learning, local business, and civic engagement field trips, visits with distinguished community members, and classroom observations.

Our programs are thoughtfully designed to maximize student engagement through the expertise of CSS faculty and UHM-affiliated professionals.

Location

Most activities are held on the UHM campus, in Honolulu, on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i, USA. Most excursions require arranged transportation.

Accommodation

On-campus housing is available on the UHM campus depending on availability through Conference Services. Some groups enjoy homestay programs where students stay with host families to experience the island lifestyle.
