At CSS, it is easy to be inspired by our students and the potential of what they can do and who they will become. Marked by leadership, excellence and innovation, our student-centered environment is dedicated to providing students with a vibrant academic climate that creates ample opportunities for our students to become citizens of the world. In fact, our graduates can be found in some of the world’s greatest companies and institutions including the United Nations, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Asian Development Bank, Booz Allen Hamilton, Texas A&M University, Cedars-Sinai, Asian Broadcasting Network, Rutgers University, UNICEF, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Nielsen Company, and Harvard University.

At CSS, we are diverse, but we share the same values. We are inspired by our surroundings, our teachings, our professors, our culture, our research. Mostly, we are inspired by our students. The potential of who they can be, who they will be and those who are.
These common values are reflected across all our departments and units – from Anthropology, Communications/Journalism, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, and Public Policy Center/Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution/Hawai‘i Energy Policy Forum to Sociology, Urban and Regional Planning, Women’s Studies, Social Science Research Institute and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
It is what defines us and makes us a destination of choice for students who want to affect change, break down barriers, touch lives and study in a multi-cultural and global environment. We invite you to learn more about our faculty, students, and alumni, and all the ways they are making a difference personally, locally and globally.
