More CSS News

As we near the end of 2020, this year is unforgettable in so many ways. Thanks to our hard-working students, faculty and staff, the College of Social Sciences has adapted to learning and researching during a global pandemic with diligence and grace. Meanwhile, we greatly appreciate our alumni and community for an unprecedented outpouring of support as we face budgetary challenges.

Our CSS departments continue to move forward, including three that are highlighted in this newsletter. Geography and Environment is offering a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree pathway for high-performing UH Mānoa undergraduates. The Department of Urban and Regional Planning will celebrate World Town Planning Day in November with informative and inspiring virtual presentations and awards. And we are proud of our alumni around the world, like Sociology graduate Byron Shorter, who is hoping to organize a UH alumni group in Florida.

We celebrate them, and all of our CSS departments, for continuing to make distinctive contributions to this campus and beyond. In this issue, we proudly share some of these memorable highlights with you.
