Our CSS newsletters allow us to showcase why we are so proud of the College of Social Sciences, and this Summer 2025 edition is no exception. Learn about how the Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies celebrated its 50th anniversary; which two Anthropology alumni donated $1 million to the department; and why Palau native Shuri Chibana was named Outstanding Graduating Senior.
Stories like this magnify why I am so proud to serve as Dean of the UH Mānoa college known for both its academic and research excellence, and giving nature. That was evident in April, when it was announced that seven of our graduate programs were ranked among the top 125 in the U.S. News and World Reportʻs 2025 Best Graduate School rankings.
Library and Information Science in the School of Communication and Information ranked No. 36; Clinical Psychology was No. 78, Public Administration was No. 82, Sociology was No. 104, Political Science was No. 107, Economics was No. 113, and Psychology was No. 124. Also, on Giving Day 2025, CSS ranked among the top tier of UH Mānoa units for generous donors, with our CSS ʻOhana, alumni and supporters showing up big time to support the CSS Student Aid Fund, departments, programs and students.
Mahalo for your continued support as CSS continues to make a difference on local, national and international levels.
