Media students excel in statewide journalism competition

Journalism students in the School of Communications took home 24 awards in the 2020 Society of Professional Journalists Hawaiʻi Chapter’s Excellence in Journalism competition. The annual statewide event recognizes the best in journalism in Hawaiʻi.

Watching esports excel

UH Mānoa was the host site for the Overwatch League’s 2021 playoffs and Grand Finals in September 2021. Nyle Sky Kauweloa, a communication and information sciences PhD student and instructor, heads the UH Mānoa Esports Task Force in the College of Social Sciences.

New horizons for Geography PhDs

Geography and the Environment’s Benjamin Schrager has joined the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Utsunomiya in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, while Micah Fisher is with the East-West Center on the UH Mānoa campus as a research fellow.
