Hawai‘i serves as a natural laboratory for social science research with its multicultural population and unique geographical setting. College faculty conduct research and applied investigations that generate solutions for social, behavioral, economic and environmental issues challenging Hawai’i and the Asia-Pacific region. The result is lively interaction and engagement between faculty and students.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program
Assisting undergraduate students across all disciplines to engage in faculty-mentored research and creative work by providing programmatic and financial support. The Student Opportunity Center is a searchable database with thousands of online listings: research and creative work positions, internships, co-ops, conferences and more.
Daniel K. Inouye Graduate Archival Research Grant
Based on original research using U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye archival collections, selected UH Mānoa graduate students may immerse themselves in the ideals of public service leadership and democratic ideals at the highest levels through a one-year research grant. Recipients must produce or provide a public research presentation, working paper or scholarly manuscript that will be submitted for publication.
Visiting Scholars Program
An opportunity for graduate students from around the world to engage in scholarly work under the guidance of CSS faculty mentors. Program participants spend up to a year engaging in research and participating in activities of their host departments and at the College. Accepted Visiting Scholars may apply for renewal.
